Usealong is a workplace carpooling app that connects car-owning employees (hosts) with colleagues who need a ride (riders). Everyone on Usealong is workplace-verified, so every trip is with a real professional heading the same way, not a stranger.

Usealong is currently running a pilot study in Lagos at four locations: University of Lagos (Unilag), Lagos State University (LASU), the Lagos State Secretariat (Alausa), and LASUTH. If you work at one of these, you can download the app now. Everyone else can join the waitlist to be notified when we expand.

You verify your workplace by signing up with your company email address, or by submitting your work ID for manual review. Until you're verified, you won't be able to browse hosts or list rides. This keeps the community trusted.

Creating an account is completely free. Riders pay a monthly subscription fee set by their host. Hosts keep 90% of what riders pay, Usealong charges a 10% platform fee to keep the service running.

Once your workplace is verified, open the app and browse hosts whose routes pass near your home address. Usealong calculates proximity based on your location and the host's route, so you only see genuinely convenient options.

Each host sets their own monthly fare, which you'll see clearly before applying.

You can cancel at any time from the app. If you cancel mid-month, our team will process a pro-rated refund manually. We aim to resolve all refund requests within 5 business days.

Your host is required to give you at least 2 hours' notice if they can't make a pickup. If they notify you late (less than 2 hours), they are fined ₦5,000 which is paid directly to you as compensation. If they don't show up and don't notify you at all, they face the same ₦5,000 fine and their account is suspended immediately. If a host misses 3 pickups within your subscription period, the subscription is cancelled and you receive a pro-rated refund for the remaining days. You will then be matched with an available host.

No, you have full control. You review every applicant and only accept people you're comfortable with. You can decline any application at any time, no explanation required.

Hosts can accept a maximum of two riders per trip. This keeps the arrangement comfortable and manageable for everyone in the car.

Rider payments are collected at the start of each subscription. You receive 90% of your listed price , Usealong deducts a 10% platform fee from your payout only. Payments are processed automatically and deposited directly to your bank account within 3-5 business days after completing the subscription.

If a rider gives you at least 2 hours' notice, no action is taken. If they notify you with less than 2 hours' notice or don't show up at all without telling you, they are fined ₦5,000 which is paid directly to you. You also keep full payment for that trip. After 3 no-shows in a subscription period, the rider's subscription is cancelled. You are never penalised for a rider's absence.
